Top Helpful Youtube Videos for Sleep to Shut Off Your Brain at Bedtime

Do you struggle to shut down your brain at night due to anxiety or maybe a stressful situation? Here's a collection of some of the Youtube videos I think can be helpful for relaxing and winding down before bed. I included sleep hypnosis, meditations, and EFT tapping.

My Top YouTube Sleep Videos for When You Can't Shut Off Your Brain Before Bed

Ever had trouble falling to sleep? If you're like most people with anxiety or when life gets especially stressful (pandemic, anyone?), you might just lie there, dreading the next day because you know the clock is ticking, and you're not going to get a good night's rest. The Pandemic's uncertainty created a lot of tension and many people developed problems sleeping that they didn't have in the past.

Sometimes, when you have a lot going on or are really stressed, it can be hard to clear your mind and get to sleep even though you really, really just want to sleep. Other times, you might even wake up at night and be restless and your mind starts going over everything you need to do the next day. This has happened to me many times, so I thought it would be helpful to show you some of the videos I use and maybe you find them helpful as well. I also use Headspace App and the Tapping Solution (opinions my own, this is not a sponsored post).

I have some different ones, some are meditations, some are ASMR sleep hypnosis, some are hypnosis. By the way, these are not intended to substitute advice from your therapist or medical specialist, I just have found these helpful. I am not a sleep specialist, so please use your own discretion.

These videos are all in English. Also, I realize with voices, some people prefer a British accent, an American or Canadian accent or perhaps an Australian accent, so I have included that in the video descriptions where possible, so you can choose if you have a preference.

I am including several types here:

1. Sleep Meditations

Sleep meditations are really helpful around 15-30 minutes before bed if possible. But also if you find yourself tossing and turning, it's a good way to take a few minutes and see if you can use guided meditation to quiet the mental chatter in your head that's keeping you awake. They're also great if you wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep.

Here's a helpful guide from Healthline on how to do it:

2. ASMR Sleep Hypnosis

This is one I've only found in the last few years. You've probably already heard of ASMR (I thought it sounded kinda weird at first) and I gotta admit there is something soothing about whispers that make you tingle. If it works. Go figure, I'm not stopping now! So what is ASMR?

Sleep.com explains it well:

"The type of stimulus that can trigger ASMR varies from person to person, but often includes gentle whispering and personal attention (like having your hair played with). ASMR provides temporary but welcomed relief for people with depression, chronic pain, and stress".

3. EFT Tapping Sleep Videos

EFT Tapping uses two fingers to tap on acupuncture points on the face and body and is very helpful in regulating the body's nervous system and calming your stress levels. You can read articles like this one on people who use EFT Tapping for their anxiety, and it reduces their stress so they can sleep.

"The reason EFT Tapping is helpful for sleep is that it clears away the worry and stress of the day so you get out all your thoughts in the negative rounds. Once you articulate all these worries and fears or things that are causing you stress, you can tap on releasing the issues so you can calm down emotionally and mentally. Depending on how much you're thinking, you might need several rounds to feel peaceful so you can let everything go and get some rest," - Andrea Hunt, Life coach and EFT Tapping Practitioner.

4. Bedtime Yoga

These are nice calming videos that you can do 15-30 minutes before bed depending on the length of the video. Some of them are to be done on a mat or on the carpet and some can be done right in bed when you want to wind down.

"Yoga is a gentle and restorative way to wind down your day. A national survey found that over 55% of people who did yoga found that it helped them get better sleep. Over 85% said yoga helped reduce stress," Harvard Health Publishing.

5. Hypnosis Naps & Sleep Meditation Naps

If only we had actually taken our naps as kids and appreciated them as much as we would now! These videos I found during my master's program when I only had 1 hour to grab food and also take a little nap. As many of us know, taking a nap during the day can even make us feel more tired! Not these videos. I don't know if these work for everyone but I was pretty shocked how well they worked for me and have been using them for years. It may or may not work for you I have no idea. Like I said, I'm not a sleep expert but I have personally found these helpful. See what you think.

So without further ado, here's my list! :) Make sure to bookmark this and try them! Please let me know if any of them are helpful for you!

30 - Minute Sleep Meditation Videos

This is a nice channel by a Dr. Salone, who uses meditation and sleep hypnosis. The majority of the videos she has on her channel are only 10 minutes (see below for the shorter video). According to her Youtube description, Dr Salone is a certified meditation and mindfulness teacher, hypnotherapist and medical doctor. She is also a featured expert on the personal development community Blisspot.com and created the 10-Minute Guided Meditation series as featured in Inside Meditation.

20-Minute Sleep Meditation Videos

This channel is from a Canadian woman named Edya who I find has a really calming voice. She does a lot of reiki and meditation videos of all kinds and I generally find her very relaxing to listen to before bed. This one is nice because she addresses the parts of the body to relax first then goes into a calming visualization. See what you think and leave me comments!

15- Minute Sleep Videos

I personally find Ediya's voice really calming. Here's a nice breathing technique one.

10-Minute Sleep Videos

This is a great one by Primed Mind for when you're stressed and need someone to talk you into relaxation. It's only ten minutes so sometimes when you wake up in the middle of the night it can be nice to have a short one to turn to so you can get back to bed. This is a man's voice..

This is a nice, slow guided sleep hypnosis meditation with the breath by Dr. Salone that can be helpful. She has a nice soft female British voice.

YogawithBird channel is for yoga as the name implies but she also has one ASMR video which is very relaxing and calming I find. It's short so can be good if you wake up in the middle of the night.

Here is guided sleep hypnosis from Tansy Forest with a British female voice that's nice sometimes as well....She has a few others as well but I like this one.

5-Minute Sleep Meditation Videos

I should note that usually I need more like 20 to really feel nice and relaxed before bed (seems to be the magic number for me but I wanted to include these just in case someone else benefits from something shorter).

The first one is from Bob Baker, who has many different positive videos on affirmations, meditations, etc. This is a nice quick one to try out.

This is another short one by Power of the Mind. They have lots of sleep talk downs but this is a nice short one.

EFT TAPPING for Sleep Videos Before Bed

You all know how much I love EFT tapping with Brad Yates for pretty much everything. He has tapping videos for anxiety, bad days, morning videos, etc. Here is one for insomnia I find helpful.

This is a good EFT Tapping video by Cat Lady fitness for when you wake up in the middle of the night and maybe can't fall back asleep. It addresses some of the frustration that comes along with being awake when you know you have to wake up in the morning.

Sleep Hypnosis Naps

I wanted to include these since I have also found them super helpful during the last few years. I used these SO MUCH during my master's program when I couldn't take a nap for an hour in the middle of the day. I am not a hypnosis specialist or anything, but I have to say I am always blown away by how good I feel after using one of these. I have used these many times when I just have 10 or 20 minutes during the day and want to use them to feel quickly refreshed. Pretty cool! Let me know if any of them work for you!

This one here is my favorite for when you have only 20 minutes! Also, always set your alarm just in case!

20-Minute Sleep Hypnosis Naps

Alicia Fairclough is from Australia and my favorite YouTube hypnotist. I can't tell you how many times I've used this one! Always set an alarm just so you don't get paranoid you're not going to wake up!

10-Minute Hypnosis Naps

I absolutely love her videos and even though I can't totally figure out how this works I am always so grateful for her videos! She's been doing these awhile now judging from the oldest ones but unlike many of the sleep videos, she's actually a real hypnotist and I am always shocked how well these work. Have you ever tried these?

So that's it! :) That's my list to help you please let me know in the comments if you tried any of these and if they worked for you. I basically have a youtube playlist I save so that I can add on any new ones I find. Hope these help!
