10 Fabulous Ways Life Coaching Can Help You
“Life coaching? Isn’t that something only celebrities have?” Sure, some successful or famous people can hire Tony Robbins for a day and pay thousands of $$$. But luckily, in the last years, and especially due to COVID-19, life coaching has moved online and become way more accessible to people of all incomes who also want to benefit by improving their lives.
Speaking from my own personal experience, having a life coach can help you create self awareness that allows you to accelerate your life and achieve your goals. ‘Yeah but, I can make my own goals,’ some people say. Sure, we all can. And if you can reach them alone, that’s amazing! You don’t need to read any further. But chances are it could be difficult for you too, since according to research, only 8% of people actually achieve what they want.
There seems to be a lot of confusion these days about what a life coach does and whether you should hire a life coach - so here are some reasons that can help you make the decision. Take a look at 10 ways life coach can help you:
1. Stay focused on your goals
Sometimes, we have so many ideas it’s hard to know how to reign them all in and focus. How many times have you tried to stick to the plan and lost focus and got distracted? Sometimes, we get stuck on one thing and miss the big picture, or we worry so much about the HOW that we end up talking ourselves out of things all together. These are all things keeping you from achieving your goals. However, a life coach can help you keep track of your progress with regular check ins and help you through the hurdles that arise so you can stick to the strategy and be consistent. Sometimes achievement comes down to making a plan, making it a habit, and sticking to it. According to Entrepreneur Magazine, Consistency and Persistence are the keys to success.
2. Increase your confidence
Are you afraid of failure? Or maybe, a fear of winning and the responsibility could actually be holding you back. Do you get shaken up by the idea of taking a big step in your career or getting out of your comfort zone? Many people who have all the tools have imposter syndrome that keeps them from really going for it in the end, and they end up sabotaging themselves. Well, here is where having a life coach cheering you on can play a strong role in keeping you motivated and sticking to the right path.
3. Get the winning mindset
So many people have amazing ideas. So many people have so much passion in what they do but have an inability that keeps them from their goals because they lack a winning mindset. Are you someone who feels like they never get chances or that everyone else always gets what they want, but you don’t? Does life happen to you or for you? If this is the first time you’ve thought about this important question, ask a life coach how to reframe your mindset so that it works for you and not against you. A life coach helps you think like a winner. The more positive you are about your abilities and what you have to offer, the better your chances are of getting what you want in life.
4. Be accountable for your actions
Part of being empowered is taking responsibility for our decisions and actions-which, I’m not gonna lie, can be uncomfortable. Sam Silverstein put it nicely: “Accountability isn’t a way of doing, it’s a way of thinking.” Sometimes, when we hold ourselves back in life and make tons of excuses for that. We’ve all been there. Were they really giving unfair feedback, or could you have put more effort into that presentation instead of leaving it until the last minute and hastily throwing something together? Sometimes, we procrastinate and blame the outcome instead of recognizing that we had some part in it. It’s easier to be mad at someone else instead of ourselves, right? Getting honest with yourself and being accountable with your life coach helps you understand your role in the outcomes in your life.
5. Identify the blind spots
According to Inc. magazine, “Blind spots, however, are personal traits or aspects we don't even know about that may limit the way we act, react, behave or believe, and therefore limit or effectiveness.” Sometimes, we know exactly what our blind spots are, maybe we’re too perfectionist and we miss deadlines as a result. Maybe we take feedback at work too personally and don’t see that it keeps us from improving. A life coach helps get a clearer picture in knowing what things are holding you back so that you can work on them.
6. Identify leadership skills
Understanding your personality and leadership skills is critical for your success. Are you a risk-taker or do you help maintain stability? Are you a decision maker or do you need to weigh out all the odds and see all the information first. If you want to perform in a professional environment at your best, you need good leadership skills. A life coach can help you uncover and work on skills that will make you the better listener, trainer, and leader you need to be to achieve your goals.
7. Work & life balance
When you’re not managing work and life balance well it can wreak havoc on your mental health. As noted in Forbes, “Maintaining work-life balance helps reduce stress and helps prevent burnout in the workplace. Chronic stress is one of the most common health issues in the workplace,” which can lead to resentment towards yourself or others. A life coach can help you prioritize time management and finding habits that can maintain better balance in these areas.
8. Reach your potential
According to Harvard Business Review, understanding and reaching our potential can help us feel fulfilled in life and in our profession. For most of us, if we aren’t sure what our strengths and weaknesses are, we can’t apply them to really know what we’re capable of. A life coach can help us identify our potential by asking challenging questions and exploring our minds.
9. You have support
Having support on your personal growth journey is important. Sometimes, we can feel that not everyone understands what we’re doing when we have a desire to change our lives for the better. This can feel isolating when we are a bit uncomfortable talking about our big hopes and dreams, and yet we know we’re capable of more. It can be comforting to know you’re not alone in this journey and there is someone who’s always there to listen to you and to guide you to be the best version of you. With every step, a life coach is there to work with you in your personal growth journey.
10. Manage stress
Sometimes, we feel overwhelmed, stressed, resentful and angry at all the responsibilities and struggles we have in our lives. Things happen and that’s inevitable, but the way we manage situations in an emotionally healthy and productive way is what is important. Do we push ourselves too far because we don’t have good boundaries? “The ultimate goal is a balanced life, with time for work, relationships, relaxation, and fun—and the resilience to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on. “
With a life coach, you can figure out the areas where you feel stuck so you can figure out the why, then make goals for a more fulfilling life. Want to see where you could be in 6 months or a year with Coaching? Try a free 15-Min Life Coaching ZOOM discovery call - Book a meeting here!
